Leaving Earth

Taking one last swing past Earth before heading off to Mercury.
NASA's punnishly named and tortuously acronymed MESSENGER spacecraft — that's MErcury Surface, Space ENvironment, GEochemistry and Ranging, got that? — doing a gravity assisted acceleration around Earth. It will finally go into orbit around the planet Mercury on the 8th of March, 2011.
